Spring is coming – real Spring, not this year’s fake-spring Winter – and with it, Fairfield’s annual Earth Day celebration, which will take place on Saturday, April 29, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the Fairfield YMCA, 841 Old Post Road. The event will coincide with the Fairfield Y’s observance of Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to inspire kids and families to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer months and beyond.

The day will feature family-friendly activities to celebrate our environment and share information on how to keep it healthy and safe, including plant and seed giveaways, and displays on composting and invasive plants and pests; the Pollinator Pathway initiative; fire safety; energy efficiency, and more. There also will be a bike rodeo, hands-on science activities for the kids and – to mark the nationwide observance of Drive Electric Earth Day – a display of electric vehicles.
