Welcome to the improved Sustainable Fairfield website. Doing better for our planet is a work in progress. As our vision becomes clearer and the community’s needs evolve, so too must our website. Below are some of the changes we have made, both visible and not:
New Look and Feel
The most obvious change is that we gave the website a new coat of paint. We still emphasize the array of color that reflects our home (and logo) but do so with intent. We are using color as a way to draw attention to important details. This helps with navigation and helps the reader digest and follow along more easily.
We’ve conveniently added access to our “Resources” right from the home page. This lets you get to the important things with as few clicks as possible. The resources are being gradually added. We are launching imperfectly, so we can use community feedback to drive the direction of new content. If a page seems bare, it will not stay that way for long. We’re working behind the scenes to add valuable information that is relevant to Fairfielders. Stay tuned for more!
You may have also noticed we’ve made our brand leaner. We’ve removed the “Task Force” part of our name for the sake of simplicity. The “Sustainable Fairfield Task Force” has been unofficially known as “Sustainable Fairfield” for many years. We’re taking that extra step to make it official and consistent across all platforms. Our email has also changed! Our new email address is sustainablefairfieldct@gmail.com.

More of What You Want
The Sustainable Fairfield website exists as a tool for individuals, businesses, and organizations to learn about the environment, the impact we have on our town, and what we can do to live more harmoniously. While accolades and awards are reassuring to our efforts to make an impact, we know the community wants to know more about what steps can be taken at home, at work, and in government to be more sustainable.
The Resource pages are still very much in the early stages of development. We’re using community feedback to lead the direction of the content that will be displayed there. Pardon our dust in the meantime! Here is what you can expect on the Resource pages:
- Educational context to hot topic sustainability discussions in town.
- Useful links to rebates/incentives and state programs.
- Hyper local content that helps show the impact of sustainability here in Fairfield.
- Ways to get involved and participate in making Fairfield more sustainable.
In addition, there are several fun and informative local events from mattress recycling to the annual Fairfield Earth Day Celebration that we want to highlight more regularly. The new website will help bring those events to the forefront, so they do not get buried by less relevant content.
Under the Hood
In short – a lot of work was done to reduce load times, improve the way pages looked on the web and on mobile. I’ll spare you all the details, but the bottom line is that we made some changes behind the scenes that will help the website load faster, reduce errors, and sustain improvements long-term.
We Want Your Feedback
Sustainable Fairfield would not exist without the care and attention of the dedicated individuals who bring it to life, including members of the community who contact us with feedback. We encourage residents to contact us with any questions regarding the new website, content to add, needs in town that this website could address, and more! Tell us what you think at sustainablefairfieldct@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Sustainable Fairfield | Communication & Outreach Team
