Support battery-powered lawn equipment to reduce noise pollution!
With the 31st annual International Noise Awareness Day just around the corner – it takes place on Wednesday, April 29 – it’s a good time to raise your awareness of the harmful impacts of noise on hearing, health and quality of life, and take positive action to reduce those effects.
Noise is one of the leading causes of hearing loss among the 466 million people around the world living with a moderate to severe hearing loss. While noise-induced hearing loss is permanent, it is completely preventable by taking simple steps to avoid noise exposure and protect your hearing.

Connecticut’s state legislators have taken notice of noise’s harm as well. SB 319 would provide financial support for municipalities, regional schools and commercial landscapers to transition to quieter, battery-powered leaf blowers and related equipment statewide. You can track the bill’s progress at legiscan.com/CT. If you’d like to voice your support for the bill, you can find contact information for legislators representing Fairfield and surrounding communities at cga.ct.gov.
