It’s been twenty-one years of observing folks, face to face, enjoying and learning about sustainable and organic methods to use in their daily lives. Exhibits, round table discussions, talks, entertainment, art and more create the positive experiences one has attending Fairfield’s Earth Day Celebration. Enjoying the interaction of eager attendees and exhibitors gave those of us involved in planning and working at the event a fulfilling sense of satisfaction. We knew that in our small way, we made Fairfield, America and the rest of the world a better place to live in.
This year Fairfield’s Earth Day Celebration, our twenty-second is unique. We also celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Earth Day, a global celebration. The event is now under the auspices of the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force and, in light of the COVID-19 virus and a social distancing requirement, it is virtual.
This viral epidemic shall come to an end and life will eventually return without the severe physical and economic restraints due to covid-19. In light of our current crisis there is a lesson for us all. Avoid and /or lessen the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
NOW is the time to act! We must lessen our lifestyle impact on our planet by increasing our understanding of how to be more sustainable and environmentally aware. Let’s make sure that we leave our planet better than we found it. A healthy planet for all and for all generations.
A special thanks to members of the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force and Sustainable Youth CT and all others who contributed a mighty effort. Special thanks go to Dustin Mandre for his masterful designing of the web site.
