Gail Schriffert, a Fairfield native, shared this photo of a craft she made at Jennings school to commemorate the very first Earth Day.
I remembered sitting in class, and my third grade teacher, Mrs. Jess, told us it was a special day and that we were going to start taking better care of the Earth. We knew people were polluting the rivers, fish were dying, and the air was getting bad. So I drew a tree and a fish.
